I have personally used YouBiz for years for a small, low-volume business. That part matters, because a lot of business banking advice online seems written for companies with teams, finance departments, investor updates, procurement workflows, and other very serious-sounding things.
Some of us just need a clean place to receive money, pay for software, keep business expenses separated, and not get punished every month for having the audacity to be small. A fuss-free business digital bank account sounds boring until you have dealt with accounts that are anything but fuss-free.
That is where YouBiz has been useful for me.
What is YouBiz?
YouBiz is a business finance account and corporate debit card product by YouTrip's parent group. In practical terms, it works like a lightweight corporate bank account for business spending, local and overseas transfers, multi-currency use, and basic expense management.
The headline features from YouBiz are:
- $0/month account pricing
- 1% cashback on eligible card spend
- real 0% FX fees on foreign currency card payments
- multi-currency accounts
- free local FAST transfers
- PayNow QR collections
- virtual and physical corporate cards
- team spending controls and approval workflows
For larger businesses, the team controls and approval policies may be the exciting part. For me, the practical benefits are simpler: it is easy to use, I can spend on business tools, and I do not feel like the account is waiting to ambush me with low-activity nonsense.
Why I still use YouBiz
The biggest reason is boring, which is usually a good sign for finance tools.
It mostly stays out of my way.
1. 1% cashback on eligible spend
YouBiz gives 1% cashback on eligible card transactions. The usual caveat applies: not every transaction qualifies, and you should check YouBiz's excluded transaction list if you are trying to optimise every last cent.
But for normal business card spending, especially online tools, subscriptions, ads, domains, hosting, and other operating expenses, 1% back is not bad at all.
Is it going to make you rich? No.
Is it better than paying business expenses on a card that gives you nothing and then quietly questioning your life choices at month-end? Yes.
2. No monthly fee is a big deal for low-volume businesses
This is the thing I appreciate more than I expected.
For a low-volume business, many banks still behave like inactivity is a character flaw. Low balance? Fee. Not enough transactions? Fee. Account too quiet? Fee. Somewhere, a spreadsheet must be fed.
YouBiz being $0/month makes it much less annoying to keep a proper corporate bank account around even when a side business has slow months.
That matters if you are running something small, seasonal, experimental, or just not yet at the "let's hire a finance person" stage.
The last thing a small business needs is a bank account adding extra misery just because the business is not throwing huge transaction volume through it every month.
3. The referral reward is S$50 after approval and S$5 card spend
YouBiz says application takes under 5 minutes, and you can use Singpass / MyInfo Business for a faster application flow.
For the referral benefit, the important part is this: after your account is approved, fund it and spend at least S$5 on the YouBiz virtual debit card within the qualifying period. Once the conditions are met, you should receive the S$50 referral reward, subject to YouBiz's latest terms.
In other words, you are not buying some mysterious package. You are just making a small card transaction after approval.

PayNow payments: useful, with one important detail
YouBiz can receive PayNow payments, which is useful if customers need a simple local payment method.
There is one detail to pay attention to: based on how my account is set up, customers do not pay directly to my own UEN in the usual way. The PayNow payment goes through YouBiz's PayNow setup, using their UEN plus a unique reference.
That reference matters.
If your customer edits or removes the reference, reconciliation can become painful. So if you are using YouBiz PayNow for customer payments, make sure your payment instructions are very clear:
- scan/use the provided YouBiz PayNow QR
- do not edit the payment reference
- send a screenshot if needed
It is not difficult, but this is the sort of thing you want to spell out before someone helpfully "cleans up" the reference field and creates a small admin treasure hunt.
The corporate card is the main everyday benefit
For my usage, the YouBiz card is the part I touch most.
You can create virtual cards, use them for business expenses, and earn 1% cashback on eligible transactions. Virtual cards can be used immediately after creation, which is handy when you need to pay for online tools or separate subscriptions by purpose.
YouBiz also supports spending limits and controls. If you are a one-person business, that may sound less exciting, but it is still useful to create cleaner buckets for different kinds of spend.
Examples:
- one card for software subscriptions
- one card for ads
- one card for marketplace purchases
- one card for travel or overseas tools
For a small business, this can be a lightweight way to avoid the "which card did I use for this random subscription?" problem.
The 0% FX fee angle
YouBiz also promotes real 0% FX fees on foreign currency card payments.
This is useful if you pay for overseas SaaS tools, online services, subscriptions, domains, apps, or ad platforms. A lot of small business software is priced in USD, and foreign currency fees are one of those annoying little leaks that do not feel dramatic until you add them up.
If your business spends mainly in SGD, this may not be the main reason to use YouBiz. But if you regularly pay overseas merchants, it is worth factoring in.
Who YouBiz is good for
I think YouBiz makes sense for:
- freelancers and small business owners who want a separate corporate bank account or business spending account
- side businesses with occasional but real operating expenses
- small teams that need corporate debit cards and spending controls
- businesses that pay for overseas software or services
- anyone who wants a $0/month business digital bank account with a practical card attached
It is especially appealing if you are not doing huge transaction volume yet and want to avoid traditional bank fee structures that feel designed for bigger businesses.
Who should think twice
YouBiz may not be the best fit if:
- you need a full traditional bank relationship
- you need cheque services or old-school banking features
- your customers insist on paying directly to your company UEN
- you need lending, trade finance, or a very broad suite of banking products
- you do not want to explain the PayNow reference flow to customers
For my use case, those trade-offs are acceptable. For your business, check the practical bits before moving anything important over.

Final thoughts
YouBiz is not some magical business finance revolution. It is a practical corporate bank account and card setup that does several useful things without making life unnecessarily expensive.
For me, the combination that matters is:
- S$50 referral reward after approval and S$5 virtual card spend
- no monthly account fee
- 1% cashback on eligible card spend
- useful virtual cards
- free local transfer/payment rails
- PayNow collection support
- less friction for a low-volume business
That last point is underrated. Small businesses already have enough admin nonsense. A business account that does not penalise you for being small is genuinely refreshing.
