best birthday present ever!

Today’s appointment with Dr Siow was amazing.

The moment he scanned, we saw baby doing a little wave at us. Those tiny hands… i cant wait to hold. It was hubs birthday and he was overjoyed to see our baby saying hi to him, as if wishing him happy birthday. Happy indeed!

Blood test also came back fine! thank goodness!

Today we also heard the heartbeat for the first time. 160 beats. dop dop dop dop dop. baby has grown to 25.9mm. Our little bean is now so clear to us with the arms and legs. Everything seems to be forming nicely. 😉

Nausea has also increased significantly with my first merlion puke (5x in a row) one evening. the uncontrollable urge to puke caught me by surprise.

the Utrogestan is also not working for me orally so i started to insert it vaginally. uncomfortable as it may be, baby im doing this for you.

Dr Siow offered to let us sign the anenatal package today (week 9) which would set us back by $1,712 for 16 visits (includes Consultation and Ultrasound). the forums all mentioned other gynaes charging $600 – $800 averagely. We decided to hold while we searched for an alternative.

Today we also made our appointment for the Oscar Scan (which is to test for down syndrome by measuring the thickness of the neck and nose of baby).

i cant wait to see you again.

2nd visit

Hi baby, we meet again today.

The last few weeks have been exhausting. I feel like my energy has drained to an all time low. im tired all the time. its not even feeling lazy. its that my mind wanna do things but my flesh is weak.

the nausea is creeping in and i can feel the heartburns in the late afternoons. the urge to pee in the middle of the night is also happening! Nooooo!!! i need my sleep!

Cravings? not yet! phew.

Today is our 2nd appointment with Dr Siow. as usual we were looking forward to the ultrasound. baby is now in a sac and the yolk sac can be seen. this is a diamond ring effect because the whole image looks like a diamond ring! (the yolk sac is attached to the baby and it looks like a diamond ring). baby is now 2.2mm. it is more accurate now as the images are clearer. based on the ultrasound, we are now 6 weeks and edd is 16 March 2015.

Dr Siow also noted that i have polycystic ovaries and have prescribed Utrogestan (hormone pills) to be taken twice a day (100mg). This is to support the pregnancy and to help baby to grow well and safe. No problem! anything for you, my baby.

We also did blood test (i like!) to ensure that all is well, especially so when my family has history of Thalessemia.

But thank god that hubs does not have this condition so it doesnt matter if i do.

Today’s bill at Dr Siow cost us a whooping $480. we are gonna be penniless before we even meet you, baby!

Shopping starts!

I couldnt help it when i walked in to H&M baby section.

I picked out a set of onesie and beanie for baby. As we do not know the gender yet, it was a very neutral brown/white set.

hopefully baby sees that we are already preparing for his/her arrival and be good in there for the next 34 weeks!

First time we meet

Under recommendations from bff, we decided to check out the gynae she has been seeing – Dr Siow from Gleneagles.

We decided to make our first appointment on 5 July because we were still in a little denial and probably wanted to make sure that the ClearBlue was working well. The last few weeks of anxiety was enough to bear and its time to make it clear today!

We arranged our appointment at about 10am, which coincides with bff’s appointment time, but bff went into labour early that morning! so anyway, hubs and i made our way to the clinic not knowing what to expect.

upon reaching the hospital and doing the necessary administrative registration work, first they tested my urine and then blood pressure. height and weight was also taken. the nurses were very friendly and helpful and attentive, i felt less anxious now.

okay so now its time to see the doctor. how would he be?

Dr Siow is very friendly, he has a smile on his face, and felt quite at ease speaking with him. he calculated our EDD date based on my last period (20 May 2014), and did an ultrasound to check out whats in there. He managed to scan a tinyyyyyyyyyyy bean, just a few mm big. He said this could be very early pregnancy but definitely there is something in there!

well as much as we are quite relieved to see that bean, this is the start of something we have not planned!!

wish us luck!
